Boxing pulled highest viewers on Chinese sport network

The broken English implies Xiong Zhao Zhong's first title defence in a stadium event was the most watched sport on CCTV sport topping even the Chinese national football team.

"2013: Professional Boxing difficult to let go of the year with China," there is a most convincing note that CCTV November 30 in Maguan County Stadium Xiong Zhaozhong live on defending the WBC mini flyweight champion Battle hit a high of 0.68 ratings, audience share reached 0.28, not only is the CCTV sports channel the week, also more than football "China Team" ratings race, showing the popularity of professional boxing in the country. Thereafter, in December 1 CCTV is extremely rare four times replay this wonderful battle.

I hope boxing in China can rise in popularity and Top Rank/Macau shows can create future boxing talent to help the sport expand into Asia. Zou Shiming is not the best fighter but I think he will be able to create a boxing fan base in China.

This is Xiong not Zou. Xiong is equally capable of adding to the boxing fan base. he was the first Chinese person to win a title, pulled great ratings and has sold out a stadium in China. I don't think Zou has sold out a stadium yet.

From reading Chinese articles about the pair I notice people think Xiong is a more exciting fighter but Zou is better known.

I wish it was GB building the sport in Asia. Arum can ruin anything he puts his hand to. He doesn't care about building the sport just cashing out.

wouldn't the .28 mean that roughly 1 out of every 400 people/families that own TV in China were watching it?
