Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer advised BoxingScene.com that Adrien Broner's decision to exercise a rematch clause, has removed Marcos Maidana from the list of possibilities for Floyd Mayweather's scheduled return on May 3rd at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Mayweather has yet to name an opponent, but Maidana was viewed as a frontrunner, along with British superstar Amir Khan, to face Mayweather in May.
