    That was great, more articles like this please. Taking on issues like this should be commended. This was a nice reminder that fighters are just people and they all have battles outside of the ring.

      Outstanding article. So many good points made, and light shed.

      Pavlik, Hatton, Gatti, Jones, and Holyfield definitely came to mind in various portions of the article (obviously Jones and Holyfield were mentioned).

        Thanks for all the reads and positive comments. It's a tough subject to tackle as there's a temptation to lapse into purple prose "dark night of the soul" "glacial loneliness" type stuff, but I wanted to look at physiological causes as well as the mental ones.

        I'm doing something on isolation in boxing soon, but from a totally different angle.

          Good read that. As someone who has suffered from depression I can relate to a lot of what the boxers are saying. It's a very difficult thing to come to terms with. It's great that more and more people are now willing to talk about it, and it's not such a taboo subject any more. Still a lot more that can be done to end the stigma though.
