It was a close fight and he scored a knock down, I actually had him winning. Kirkland has done nothing at MW, he's not even a top 5 JMW right now. At this stage GGG needs to go with significance over style matchup.

Kirkland might be okay if he gets past the first round, but he always seems to start the fight in a frenzy coming in with his hands down. He won't get away with that against GG, he didn't get away with it against Ishida.

Only way I'd accept this fight is if he fought somebody at MW and won.
he'll most likely look vulnerable in the fight too.
Stevens would probably KO him because he'd just sit back with the left hook while Kirkland charges

Sturm is unlikely to ever happen unless GGG becomes a household name in the US and brings retirement level $/Euros. Murray - maybe - he's losing his Martinez fight kudos fast through inactivity and the recent poor fight against... (**** - I forget his name, but a guy GGG KTFO). His interest seems to be in a Sturm fight, though if he wins he'll probably still not wanna fight Golovkin.

If Geale is available, he should be the fight that is made - even on bad financial terms - Geale is the proven MW, Kirkland - if that's the alternative, a tough and relentless brawler but with nothing significant to offer GGG.

I (also) still hold out that Maravilla will take GGG as his last fight - though if Cotto vs Maravilla is made at 160 and Cotto were to win then I ain't sure how much Sergio would still be worth to HBO (if they're smart they'll try to tie the winner into a GGG fight).

Im down for Golovkin vs Kirkland. Id rather see GGG fight guys thats going in there to take his head off than him fighting opponents that are afraid of him like Macklin. Didn't Geale have a opportunity to fight GGG before and opted not to. He just wants a payday now that he doesn't have a belt. If Geale does get the fight expect him to fight to survive and not to win.

That's why Golovkin fights in Monaco evidently.... to maintain a european presence. Dude lives in Germany, so it'd be cooler if he upped his appearance there for a Sturm fight.

As for Martinez, I believe HBO will try to force this passing of the torch by denying almost everybody
