Comments Thread For: M. Murray Reportedly Injured, Pulls Out Of Fletcher Bout

The February 1 show in Monte Carlo is quickly falling apart at the seams as yet another prominent fighter is dropped from the bill.

One day after Nathan Cleverly was pulled from the show, middleweight contender Martin Murray of Great Britain has now allegedly become the latest to get bitten by the injury bug.

Murray (26-1-1, 11KO) was slated to face Australia's Jarrod Fletcher in the evening's chief support, with unbeaten knockout artist Gennady 'GGG' Golovkin defending his middleweight title versus Osumanu Adama in the main event. However, Fletcher was notified by his team on Wednesday that a new opponent was being sought for their scheduled 12-round middleweight bout.

A statement on Fletcher's confirmed Facebook page claims, "Martin Murray has pulled out of his scheduled World Title fight with Jarrod 'Left Jab' Fletcher! 'Left Jab' will still fight on the Gennady Golovkin vs Osumanu Adama card, with the announcement of the new opponent to be made as soon as possible!" [Click Here To Read More]

      Jarrod 'Left Jab' Fletcher

Is it just me that finds the nickname 'Left Jab' funny for some reason.

'Left Hook' as in Jeff 'Left Hook' Lacy sounded awesome but Left Jab just doesn't sound right.

I'm ashamed to be a British boxing fan at the moment.

I was still OK with Murray but there's just too many injuries coming from boxers atm without records released.

Tsk, tsk - Martin ain't doing so well is he? Pulled out of 2 fights in the last few months, 1 cancelled, and the one fight he did have (Khomitsky) was reportedly a pretty poor showing. FWIW, Khomitsky has twice gone 8 rounds with Khomitsky, GGG took him out in 5 in his 8th pro fight.

Kid's going to lose all the momentum he got from the Maravilla fight at this rate and it appears he's also lost his GGG mando slot not to mention that this fight could have been a build up to GGG - Murray, which is looking less and less likely.

So far both Clev and Murray have pulled out of the Monte Carlo event - I'm betting the organisers ain't happy when it's only 3 weeks away.

Just sounds like a lame ass, pawing, version of Left Hook dunnit?

Does he think his jab strikes terror into the hearts of opponents or something?

                Left Jab?

Ike Quartey couldn't pull that nickname off, let alone this guy.

Golovkin. He's hiring thugs to take these guys out so he never has to fight them.
