Comments Thread For: Roy Jones Explains Why Nick Diaz Fight Should Happen

44-year-old former champion Roy Jones Jr. (57-8, 40KOs) explained why a fight with UFC veteran Nick Diaz (26-9 in MMA), 30-years-old. Jones initially wanted to face former UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva (33-5 in MMA, 16-2 in the UFC), but last year Silva suffered two stoppage defeats to Chris Weidman (11-0), and a broken leg in last month's rematch will keep Silva out for most of 2014. With Silva out, Jones approached UFC President Dana White to pitch the idea of facing Diaz.

No it shouldnt happen. Why the hell cant Roy learn. If he does lose to Diaz then Dana and MMA fans in general wont ever stfu about how an mma fiter can beat a boxer at pure boxing.

I agree, It shouldn't happen but a 60 year old Roy shouldn't lose to Diaz In a boxing match.

Even the 2014 version of Roid Jones would humiliate and destroy any MMA fighter at any weight in a Boxing match. I say let the dry humpers come on over and let Roid show them how insignificant they really are.

jones would get walked down in this one. diaz's heavy hands and chin would see him to a very comfortable win ... and nick would keep it off the ground to prove a point, believe that - just giving him a couple of kicks to think about.

Correct but everyone has a puncher's chance so its high risk, low reward cuz what does roy even prove beating someone who is suppose to be jack of all trades and master of none. Where as Diaz win means beating a 4 division champ who spends all his time at one art only.

Roy makes a good point, I think that having mma fighters cross over to boxing would help our sport in regards to popularity because it would create interest for those who are strictly mma fans. There are a lot of people who think that you have to chose to be a fan of one sport or the other and talk bad about the sport they chose not to like but in my opinion, I think doing that just shows a lot of ignorance because both sports require an immense amount of hard work, dedication, and discipline. But at the end of the day everyone has a right to chose what they like but in my opinion the ones that chose one or the other shouldn't feel the need to bash on the sport they don't like.

Diaz does not have heavy hands he is a pitty patt puncher, throws punches in bunches!! don't get me wrong I love nick diaz but he is not a power puncher!!

plus they will most likely fight with 12oz or at least 10oz boxing gloves!!!

I think Roy still wins, the foot work from boxing is way different when you don't have to worry about take downs!!

Roy wins Foot work will play a huge factor!!! but diaz does have a boxing backround!!

silva would have been much easier!!

In a boxing match? Why not? Roy Jones will mop the floor with Nick Diaz in a boxing ring. Easy money.
