Yep, back in 2012. Suddenly, team Maidana ended up fighting Karass instead. Lol

        Something amazes me about maidana.

Not undermining thurman but I guess training with robert garcia definitely made maidana a world beater.

Am not overhyping maidana in that extent, it's just that he is more polished now than back then.

I think hes on 3-0 with robert garcia.

If Maidana would rematch his losses, definitely he can have revenge.
For sure this fight is a 50-50 for me. A barnburner for Goldengirls

Maidana chose not to fight Thurman in 2012 and it was a smart move. I can understand why he declined/ducked or whatever you want to call it. He had just lost vs Devon and was asked to fight a man who's last few fights were at 154 when Maidana at the time wasn't even sure if he was staying at 147.

Thurman had also never been on TV before so it was a high risk, low reward type of fight where even if Maidana won he wouldn't get much credit. Maidana would have only got 120K, he declined and a took a fight on the Canelo under card for 250K and vs a fighter more suited to his style and easier for a comeback fight in fighting Karras.

that win made him the WBA WW number one contender (title shot went to broner instead) and got him a TV Main event and 450K vs Lopez, then of course the Broner fight which he won for the WW title plus 800K. Seems like Maidana and his team made the right choice. he would fight him now though at some point because Thurman has a name after his last 4 TV fights and has earned it as well.

Maidana wants Floyd though like everybody else does and you can't blame him. But Maidana vs Thurman is a great fight and i feel Maidana's best chance would be to swarm him early and hurt him, maybe even get an early stoppage (Thurman isn't a master boxer, he gets hit). If not it becomes a war and either man can win. I favor Maidana but if Thurman wins he is the real deal and would have passed his acid test for sure.

lol at "thurman wins easy." thurman has been hurt several times, has a very leaky defense and a tendency to brawl. all three factors play right into maidana's hands.

the loss to alexander is way overblown, imo. you guys expect him to be dominated in a similar fashion every fight. nobody but alexander has had it easy with maidana. broner was supposed to have an easy time, look what happened.

Yeah, Thurman wins but Maidana for whatever reason doesn't want this fight

This is gonna be a very exciting fight. I think Thurman beats him via SD. Maidana is now a much better boxer under Bob Garcia.
