You play the betting odds right you can pay off any fighter millions and feel no loss from it with your earnings back from your win. If the fighter dont except the deal...he makes way less and it will be hard to get another big payday anywhere else. If ever. These politics in Boxing have been going on for decades. Corruption and fixed fights have serious collective costs in the boxing industry and can undermine its legitimacy. The present corruption in the industry provides stories like these some semblance of believability.

Then again IMO, this particular story seems more like a fairy tale because Canelo can make more money if he beats mayweather. It doesn’t take a genius to figure that out.
Unless, the bribe was accompanied by threats.
