    Showtime Sports VP Stephen Espinoza credits the popularity of Amir Khan (28-3, 19KOs) as the driving force for his frontrunner position to land a shot at WBC welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. (46-0, 26KOs) on May 3rd at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

    Khan is reportedly the likely candidate to face Mayweather, but boxers like WBA welterweight champion Marcos Maidana are also under consideration. Everything is pointing to a Mayweather-Khan battle. Khan recently revealed that he signed his end of the bout agreement for the May 3 fight, while Maidana's team members have publically disclosed that nobody has reached out to them for a Mayweather fight.

      Everyone knows that this is the only reason Mayweather/Showtime are even acknowledging that Khan is alive. Sadly...

              When has Mayweather not made his decision based on income?
              Nothing new.

              Hopefully it will be a better fight than his previous fights and will end in a KO.

                  by all means if they want to travel across the globe to see Khan do the chicken twerk that'll be money well waisted. I can't stand Khan and this Mayweather cherry pick is bull****..but he'll finally get a knockout in years?

                      Still, Khan should have fought Alexander or whoever from the top contenders for this chance. But, like every Khan fight, it WILL be entertaining (to see his special Pakistani dance)

                          Please pick Maidana and let Khan EARN his way into fight. Take a fight against any one of the GBP WWs, pick the easiest one for him FFS.
