Comments Thread For: Kovalev's Manager Talks 2014 Plans, Stevenson, More

Rising boxing manager Egis Klimas spoke to BoxingScene.com about his hard-punching WBO light heavyweight champion, Sergey Kovalev (23-0-1, 21KOs). Klimas talks about the boxer's future in 2014, a potential unification with WBC light heavyweight champion Adonis Stevenson and more.

BoxingScene.com: Rumors are he might face lanky Polish fighter Andrzej Fonfara (25-2, 15 KOs) next. Is that the fight you want? And when will be Sergey matched up with Adonis Stevenson?

I recall Kovalev saying something like that - that he disliked Sillakh for being two-faced, polite in public then disrespecting him on twitter / FB. I get the impression Sergei's just a pretty blunt spoken, straight forward guy - you get what you see.

He's said himself that he ain't always easy to get along with, but both Klimas and Duva have spoken about him actually being a really warm, personable guy.

Guess Sillakh learned the hard way that you don't wanna piss him off tho.

Saw an article recently when he was being asked about talking after putting a guy down in another fight - (doesn't say which) - he's asked something like 'what were you saying - did you want to get the ref in to stop the fight?' 'no' he replied 'I wanted him to get up so I could carry on hitting him..'

I figured that people were being a bit over zealous with the the racist mantra,I'm pretty sure if he was racist he wouldn't have an African american trainer, who he seems to have developed a great relationship with. Russians use terms (I'm not condoning them)that Americans may consider a bit controversial but in Russia it's probably culturally acceptable.

I dislike hypocrites, Kovalev specifically calls African Americans - n**ga, sunburnt guys, purebread Ni**er, inadequate guys and likes them less day by day. His mgr contradicts himself as he tries to get Kovalev to change his word and he says that Kovalev says, "I tell things as I see and as I feel them." Then tries to say that Kovalev was playing with black kids so that means he isn't racist now. Come on, we aren't all ****** and going to fall for their excuses and coverup. He said those things and he meant them. Here are the links that were posted on earlier blogs with the stories that show his own racist words. If you don't know Russian, try a translation program.

Kovalev is my favorite fighter to date.

            Stevenson is openly avoiding him.

B-Hop (before the Cleverly fight) said: "Bring Frankenstein on". But B-Hop never reiterated this line since then.
