  • Comments Thread For: Pascal: I Can Adapt - But Bute is Mechanical, a Robot

Former WBC light heavyweight champion Jean Pascal (28-2-1, 18KOs) was annoyed with Lucian Bute's recent statements, where Bute (31-1, 24KOs) stated that Pascal is not capable of fighting hard for twelve rounds and is likely to gas out in the second half of the fight. The two Canadian stars are scheduled to collide on January 18th at the Bell Centre in Montreal. HBO will televise the contest.

I disagree with Pascal. Bute doesn't fight as fluidly and slippery as he does, but he's certainly not mechanical. If he wants to talk about mechanical, then that's Abraham. Or look no further than Froch, who beat all 3 of their asses.

The way Pascal constantly lunges forward head-first and off-balance after he throws his straight right is tailor-made for Bute's counter uppercut. Pascal could very well end up face-first on the floor like Miranda if he tries that shit.

Pascal is getting worked over in this fight. Left uppercut to the solar plexus is gonna have Pascal on the canvas.

Yeah I think it'll be either body shots or uppercuts that'll flatten Pascal, if Bute beats him... but I'm still not sold it isn't a 50-50 fight.

i can't recall seeing a fighter adapt to having a torn shoulder the way Pascal did in one of his recent fight, i think it was his last one. He wasn't fighting a killer or anything but he only had one arm...and he honed it in like a laser and landed it over and over and over again, he aint teh smartest fighter but that was quite the adjustment

He had to adapt in one of the Diaconu fights too. It's very impressive, but at the same time not good - a real liability - if he keeps messing up his shoulder when it matters the most. I know it's all the rage around here nowadays to shit on Bute, but I'm convinced he can still be a killer when presented with a hurt opponent. Therefore Pascal cannot afford to lose the use of an arm as he did against a harmless tune-up like George Blades.

I remember Pascal was winning the fight against Froch, but then he ran out of gas.
