Perfect unification build up fight: Bute/Pascal vs Kovalev

Okay... so the problem now is Stevenson is looking for money fights, but what's really available to him at LHW?

The two off the top of my head is Ward if he moved up and Bute/Pascal winner.
For now though it looks like he's taking a fight with Fonfara in April

I believe he said they should build the fight up between Kovalev and him, or Kovalev should build his name.... well... I present to you the idea of the Bute/Pascal winner fighting Kovalev for his belt, either on the Stevenson undercard or their own event in Canada.

Works both ways.

If Kovalev wins, he gets a great name on his resume and his stock can rise on the way he wins. If he wins in a dominant fashion, he's that much well known. If not, he adds a former world champion to your resume and one of Canada's best.

If Pascal/Bute winner beats Kovalev, they have a belt going into a unification with Stevenson, making the fight that much bigger and a win over the divisions boogieman....making their stock rise just as much.

Yea, it's on the off chance that they actually want to build the fight like they were talking about.
And if this actually went through and Pascal/Bute won, their domestic fight would be so much bigger than it would have been.

In all likely hood though, the scenario you said will happen. Stevenson will fight Fonfara and Pascal/Bute winner will sit and wait for Stevenson while the loser pursues Kovalev.

Might be a little resistance if Pascal wins since Stevenson/Pascal are close buddies

Also thought that since Pascal was talking about Kovalev being untested and what not that he'd like an opportunity to fight if he won. If he lost, I have no doubt he chases Kovalev on Stevenson's undercard in April....given if he isn't injured

Kovalev would build his stock up in Canada by beating a Canadian.,plus Pascal Stevenson are cool I believe both Haitian, if it's Bute then he'd likely want to face him instead.

I don't think this fight should happen right away let it really gain steam and by late summer/early fall it would be even bigger.

Yea... was an outisde chance that would've been cool.
Fighting the loser still helps, but has less.... I guess zing, since they just lost to pascal/bute.

Just thought that because if Stevenson fought Pascal/Bute with a belt (off chance they beat Kovalev) the domestic fight would be so much bigger.
But in a way, it's a big domestic fight already...bigger than Bute/Pascal right now
