Boxing judges who double up as referees

Was watching some fights on YouTube recently, and I began to notice more, some referees also working as boxing judges. I'm sure i've seen this several times so it's not exactly rare to my mind, but in your opinions - is it better when judges have that referee experience and background of being right up close to the action and seeing it all in terms of how they judge fights, or are judges with different experiences/backgrounds in boxing better to judge?

in most states now if you are looking to be a judge you will go through the courses of alot of different assingments in boxing including reffing and things about gloves for fighters at the weigh-in, etc.....

A lot of small fights in the UK, a ref is the judge at the same time. The ref holds the hand up after the bout to the winner straight away.

Ok, but I am more interested in just thoughts on whether being a ref or judge has advantages when they interchange the role, for example if an individual has lots of referee experience, will this be advantageous and make them a better judge, for example scoring more efficiently due to perhaps more finer knowledge?

I mean on the world stage more specifically, 1 example is Terry O'Connor, I saw him as a judge in the Calzaghe v RJJ fight but as a ref in Kovalev v Cleverly and also Calzaghe v Manfredo Jr. So yeah, does the experience of roles help, is basically my question.

i guess everything helps but I dont think you need to have any reffing experince to be a great judge. You just need to be able to catch every subtle thing that goes on within a round. Most fans dont pay attention to all the lil things fighters do even though they think they do. My GF is a licensed judge. I keep saying Im going to get mine but never have the time

Personally, I think the ref has the best view over anyone of the fight, to "keep it 100 like a C-note". Better than the fighters themselves. Thus, a ref who knows how to score should be the most accurate scorer, assuming he is unbiased, but not taking into account the fact that judges score fights differently, and there are different ways to score a fight.
