Comments Thread For: Vasquez Hopes Fortuna Win Will Land Uchiyama Rematch

Interim-WBA super featherweight champion Bryan Vasquez (32-1, 17KOs), and his manager Mario Vega, are hoping that victories over tough opponents will lead to a rematch with the full champion of the division, Takashi Uchiyama, who stopped Vasquez in eight rounds a year ago. Uchiyama defends his title against Daiki Kaneko on December 31 in Tokyo.

Pretty sure that's the plan for both sides as long as they come through Tuesday.I've seen a few people saying though Kaneko is supposed too be a real threat for Uchiyama

I've only saw one fight against a domestic opponent where it was even going forward and then the crushed him late.

I hope it does happen, another huge Japan event... would be even better if they got Yaegashi/Ioka rematch on the co-main (don't know the japanese network beefs).

            Curiosity who??

Kaneko is taller ,actually fights sorta similar to Uchi w/o quicks/explosivness but if either lose it'll likely be Miura, Jardon is about the same as Thompson but can move a little better, don't be surprised if that fight turns out to be a dozzy.

Sounds to me like Vasquez and manager are already looking past Fortuna. This can and most likely will be a big mistake. I don't know much about Vasquez but he better not sleep on Fortuna because he can put him to sleep quickly. So, focus on the task at hand and let nature take it's course.
