Comments Thread For: Team Sauerland's Statement on Robert Helenius Claims

Regarding Team Helenius' accusations in an earlier article, Chris Meyer (CEO of Sauerland Event) wants to clarify the situation from Team Sauerland's point of view:

Sauerland Event has an exclusive promotional contract with Robert Helenius for two more years and the extension time due to his two injuries suffered (against Chisora in December 2011 and against Sprott in March 2013).

I bet you Sauerland cheated Helenius like so many other fighters. What a joke: contractual extension time due to injuries....imagine an injured soccer player being forced to extend the contract with his club......Universum tried the same thing with the Klitschkos and Sturm and lost each lawsuit.

I always like how Sauerland deals with public contractual disputes in a polite manner trying not to burn any bridges.

Here's to hoping that the dispute ends swiftly and that Helenius is back in the ring sooner rather than later.

Doesn't seem like a big riff, they should be able to work this out favorably for both parties involved

Always two sides to every story and somewhere in the middle is the truth. Unless you are dealing with someone like Arum or King, then you tend to probably side with the fighter.

            I can see both sides.

If they tried to take advantage of Robert's green-ness, yeah that's not ethical... but at the same time - Robert is a recognizable name in the heavyweight division now.

I hope they can get it settled quickly. The more fish in the heavyweight pond, the better.

Every promoter has injury clauses. It extends the contract per the time the fighter is on the shelf. If Pacquiao has a two year contract, but injuries himself in camp and has to sit out for 12 months, that 12 months of inactivity is carried over as part of the two-year deal.

2 more years with extended time from injury is not uncommon in a contract is not uncommon as far as I know... sounds like helenius has to bite the bullet & just fight & get out when it's up.
