Comments Thread For: Helenius, Father Explode at Sauerland During Wild Presser

During a wild press conference today in Borgaa (Finland) - Kalle Helenius, father and trainer of heavyweight contender Robert "Nordic Nightmare" Helenius, stated that this coming Monday he plans to report Sauerland Event to the police for risking his sonīs health and mistreating his career.

It was also claimed at the press conference that Sauerland is insisting there are existing promotional contracts and it also appears that the ongoing negotiations about a co-promotional deal with Helenius' incoming yet to be named promoters have broken down.

Not suprising....The promotional company want to have those years due to the injury. I hope Robert and his father endure....You cannot measure the impact of an injury such as this and the promotional company has more insurances against this than the fighter who must then have a career minus those years.

Odd report. It says nothing about why Helenius wants to sue Sauerland ie what they feel Sauerland has done wrong.

      More details must surely follow.

Sounds like they wanted a reschedule so he could heal and the promoter said "NO!!".

I assume they are going to claim that Robert informed them of his injuries and he was "forced into the fight." That will be very hard to prove. He could have easily pulled out and refused to fight.

More facts will follow, and it seems that Robert was royally screwed from day one. He claims - with his father - that Sauerland altered the contract before Robert signed it. He also says he "refuses to fight as a slave any longer". - Team Sauerland is actually starting to sound worse than Don King

If that's the case, then yeah. Helenius faces an uphill battle. It seems like this could end ugly as one party threatens with the police and the other party says that the contract is in effect and even prolonged due to the injuries.

One can only hope for a quick decision so the fighter won't be wasting too much time on the sideline.

These are the practices Teddy Atlas was speaking on concerning Povetkin. He said Sauerland was super shady, with their spoiled brat Kalle Sauerland at the helm. Huge reason why he walked away from that situation. Boxing needs a regulatory body to step in and save itself ! From the shady judges / promoters / back alley dealings etc, the viewing audience is a lot ore educated as a whole, and after awhile people do not like to see people being done wrong, and how many more bad decisions will the fans tolerate? Greed is an insatiable hunger / thirst that will never be quenched - The feds need to step in, there needs to be pension plans in place, medical insurance, health insurance etc.. and we the fans really need to get involved, hate to see my favorite sport cease to exist within the next decade - scary but true thought.
