I can't prove without a shadow of a doubt he's popular. I can give my opinion why I believe he is

He gave Showtime their first million viewer broadcast while going head to head with an HBO PPV that sold 500k.
Usually when the two go head to head, their numbers are severely reduced.
This was against the biggest freaking mismatch in a very long time

Event was sold out at over 12k seats and a 1.6 million dollar gate

Also had an official attendance of almost 40k people for his fight with Trout. Cheap tickets don't really mean anything if people don't come. Maidana/Broner had the same priced tickets and they could only shift 11k of their previously 20k estimated.

Then you have the fact that he was continuously on Floyd's undercards.
The fights where he struggled to break or get near a million post ODLH
(Guerrero, JMM, Hatton) didn't have Canelo, while the three that did (Cotto, Ortiz, Mosley) had Canelo on the undercard, then the big 2.2 million fight with Canelo.

We'll see in Floyd's next fight since he won't have Canelo on there and if he can break a million just as easily as he has in the past with Canelo on the undercard.

It's so idiotic to think Canelo helped on the Mosley undercard that I'm not sure I can take you serious.

        It's funny because it's true!
So funny watching Floyd beg Canelo and Broner to be on his card.
Don't worry, put your TMT fighters on there... people will love that!

Yup... Canelo sure didn't help with anything. We'll see how badly Floyd's next card fails without Canelo on it.

What's the excuse going to be?
Oh, it's because the person he fought wasn't that big of an attraction!
Anybody Floyd fights next, unless it's Shawn Porter, will be a bigger name fighter than Victor Ortiz, and that sold well with Canelo as the co-main event

            Sure, bud.

Poor Manny. I wonder how his fans explain away the 475K.

Guess I'm idiotic for thinking Canelo helped sell.
Floyd asking him to be on the undercard doesn't help me think otherwise though.

Canelo now is different from Canelo in 2010. You're an idiot for having that point fly over your head. At least Floyd can take comfort in knowing that without Canelo, he can still do about a milly. Instead of, oh, 475K.

If Manny sold more than 500k in April, would you say Bob is making up the numbers?

When bob said 475k, that seemed to be the only time anybody believed him.

I believed it because HBO said so. Not Arum.

And if Pac sells a million again with the typical Arum shit undercard?

Guess you can still say well Pac sold less than 500k in China
