  • Comments Thread For: Salido: Lomachenko Will Lose, Still Be a Great Amateur

WBO featherweight champion Orlando Salido (40-12-2, 28KOs) has advised Vasyl Lomachenko (1-0, 1KO) to stay focused on their March 1st encounter in San Antonio, Texas. Lomachenko, a two-time Olympic gold medal winner, will attempt to win a world championship in his second professional contest. During the last few weeks, there has been a lot of discussion regarding a potential future fight between Lomachenko and another two-time Olympic gold medal winner, Guillermo Rigondeaux (13-0, 8KOs).

    What an intriguing fight.

Solido is hitting Lomachenko with nothing but the truth. There is no comeback to what he just said there

I still can't believe this fight is happening.

This fight is forreal. Salido is not one of the pushovers of boxing and will be a stern test for Lomachenko.

Yah forreal. Win or lose i feel it's too much too soon for Lomachenko because what happens if he DOES win the WBO in his [technically] 2nd pro fight? He's going to have to suddenly be a target and be facing the top names around the weight to defend his belt. That is too much pressure for a young fighter, he needs to be brought up at the right pace, forcing a belt on him and than attempting to make a Rigo match might ruin this kid's possibly very bright future.

Remember the Alamo? This guy serious? Yeah I'm sure some Ukrainian kid knows all about that.

I'll be rooting for Salido, a true rough and tough boxer who came up the hard way to earn his belts. He knows what it takes.

Once again Salido will upset the applecart.

But if the judges had Juanma winning in their fights then you best believe Arum will have these judges paid too.

I'm pretty sure he knows this and will come out for the kill.

Yeah, it's risky for sure. But talk about bragging rights if he wins an alphabet title in his 2nd pro fight. Then again, if he beats the very tough Salido in emphatic fashion, I would favor him to beat Gradovich, Vetyeka, or Johnny at that point.
