For the longest time the talk within boxing has been revolved around the sad state of the heavyweight division; and it’s inability or unwillingness of the division’s four champions (IBF: Chris Byrd, WBA: Nicolay Valuev, WBC: Hasim Rahman, and WBO: Lamon Brewster) to step up and unify the title. In a sense, restore the pride, luster and respect to what was once the most revered and cherished title in all of sports…being know as the world heavyweight champion! [details]

i dont like it, its NOT boxing if they are doing only four rounds. thats ****ing ******, it ends up being like the ultimate fighting things. why even put it on a boxing site?
it just proves how sorry the heavyweights are right now if the big names agree to this, its all about the money and not about real boxing.
i think this is a bad thing to hype up boxing, it is too pop culture-ish. there are already too many champs for too many divisions, add this **** to the mix and none of the sometime followers of boxing will become fulltime followers. they wont be able to get into the matchups, itll be too confusing.
boxing needs fewer divisions and one or none for the alphabet gangs. -
This has been posted about and discussed before. The same ****'s gonna get said here.
There is nothing good about this, and I have no idea why Boxingscene is touting this as something special. If I had to guess, it'd be because they're getting paid by someone to do so. The title should read more along the lines of "Incredibly ****** HW tournament to be held," and procede to bash the entire idea of having only four round fights.
To promote this as something special in any way shows a lack of integrity in the site, I feel, and it's not something the BS writers, or readers can be proud of.
This whole tournament is a sham, and should be called out appropriately. It's absolutely pathetic that the fights will be four rounders, no matter who is fighting. How can you call someone a champion when they're only fighting for four rounds. Hell, maybe Butterbean can come in and win this one.Comment

I've stated my opposition to this idea previously.
And I agree with BadMagick.
With all due respect to Mike Indri, the support of the Retired Boxers Foundation by this tournament organization makes the article have a scent of conflict of interest.
This almost seemed like a glorified press release.
Sad, but hopefully this is just an exception and not the norm.
And I still don't see this idea picking up steam, with major contenders entering. Not at all.
In the words of Charles Barkley, "I may be wrong, but I doubt it."Comment
