I think that is the best fight at 160, what do you guys think?
Will Martinez ever fight GGG?

He probably will at some point. He strikes me as the kind of champion who would take on Golovkin. However, he may have to make a mandatory against Rubio if he defeats Cotto. My guess is after one or two more fights, he'll stick to his word and fight Golovkin. -
I hope so. If his health allows, then you are right, maybe 2 fights time.
Dibella doesn't seem up for it really IMO.Comment

No he's not. Sergio has very few fights left in him. He's getting up there and his knees are gone. Any fight he takes will have to be reasonably safe for a nice purse. It remains to be seen how Martinez looks against Cotto. Even if he looks good, I seriously doubt "Maravilla" cares to take a chance with a monster like Golovkin. What for?Comment

I doubt he'll have the balls to fight Golovkin. He's made it pretty obvious that he wants none of Quillin/GGG and would rather look for fights with the likes of a blown-up Cotto. The Curtis Stevens that showed up against Golovkin would MURDER Martinez.Comment

Yes,, if serg gets past cotto, and ggg keeps winnning big like he has, I think by late 2014 they will fight.
The only thing that prevented this fight from happening sooner was that serg's risk didnt equal his reward, but now that ggg has built his name up, and is a legit ratings draw on HBO, the money will be there to make this fight happen..
Serg has been a good champion, and never shied from tough fights, he had chavez jr, barker, macklin, williams twice, pavlik, murray all on his resume, I dont think he will be afraid of ggg, the money just has to be there because everyone realizes ggg is a huge risk. Serg knows that, but i think he is a proud champ and will defend against anyoneComment

I think after the Cotto fight, if he wins, he'll want more and more money.Yes,, if serg gets past cotto, and ggg keeps winnning big like he has, I think by late 2014 they will fight.

Rubio is just meeting his madatory, but he'll expect a ton of money for fighting Golovkin because he knows it's an ass beating.Comment

No. I dont think he has enough fights in him to make it to late late 2015. He'll be fighting in June, likely by one more time at the end of the year vs Rubio and he gets passed Rubio and these two stay unbeaten he'll be cashing out vs Canelo. If he somehow stays unbeaten I dont think Dibella sells him out to GGG.
Lets be honest, Dibella isnt going to do that to Serg. Serg at 100% beats GGG, everyone (who matters) knows this (from what we've seen)..but now? The fight would ONLY be to pass the torch/lineage. The fight to make is GGG vs Quillin for the future of the class.
I don't think Serg can stay unbeaten long enough to make it to GGG, but if he and GGG did fight its irrelevant, we know who the future is. Martinez vs GGG would look like Garcia vs Morales 2 by the time they fight lol.
People are so caught up in this fight but GGG (similar to Floyd in a sense) is joining the party too late vs a great fighter whos seen better days. He wont get credit for it unless martinez looks impressive vs all the dudes that lead to GGG but even then hed lilely be 40+!
Hell, Martinez has less than Cotto left and dude is due to go out on his shield one of his next fights. Thats the general feeling anyway...
GGG should look up as all the good modern fighters do. Martinez has nothing for him, he cant give him what he wants aside from some money and a name on paper. Look up and dare to be great. Beating Ward... Not sure he could do anything in the sport that would mean more than that. He's got the size (dont let the insecure fans tell you he doesnt) to pull it off. I think he's the goods and hopefully i'm not expecting too much from himComment
