This is terrible. I don't really know what to say. I think we all pretty much have said what we've wanted in the weeks after the fight. We all have our opinions and placement of blame. At this point, I'm only concerned about him getting better. I wish him the best.

That was a real depressing read. Almost ruined my Christmas. My heart goes out to his family and everyone effected by this.Comment

A depressing but very good article.
We (and "they") should think seriously about what Hopkins is talking about.
Now I just hope Magomed recovers.Comment

At this time and season I'm sure all our wishes are welcomed by Mago and family, but any boxing fan who has the means to donate would be doing him and his family a greater service.
I'm pleased Hyrunov (by way of Ryabinsky) has offered to pay for the early part of his treatment, but most likely this will be far from enough - I would hope Lewcowitz (Maravillas manager as well as Magos) and maybe K2 will help, but Magos fate may rest in the hands of those of us able to provide a small donation.
If you do have the means to donate, please consider it at: www.Ring10Ny.com.
Beyond this, of course, we should all press for closer medical attention and stricter rules on fighter insurance and post fight medical care for any of the guys who put their health on the line to entertain us in the ring.
Best wishes to Mago and family, and to all you boxing fans out there and wishing you a Happy Boxing day.Last edited by Citizen Koba; 12-26-2013, 02:35 AM.Comment

What really sucks about this fight is that it was very competitive, not as lopsided as many say, and Mago was landing bombs in the final rounds. Not too many trainers would have stopped this. The ringside doctors, however, should have spotted how uncomfortable he was in rounds 6 and 7.
I wish him a speedy recovery!Comment
