    Genetics is important in boxing...

Go to japan and look for someone who is 6'2" and could possibly make it as a heavyweight boxer lol.

Still Asia has alot of untapped potential.

      the next step ?

The next step is for the Government of Pakistan to offer a piece of land where the facility can be built.
      Typical publicity stunt
Amir can buy the land himself its not like he can't afford to, then ask the government to help build it...

Pakistan has the ability to provide some really top class boxers, they're bought up the hard way in that country, and if Kazakhstan could help with some trainers I think we could have some decent prospects coming.
Fitness & mental ability = very different from athleticism. You can be be very fit & mentally strong, but have **** athleticism.

Cricket does not require high levels of athleticism. It doesn't require any levels of athleticism. Cricket is more about concentration & decent levels of fitness. You have to be ****ing dreaming if you think otherwise.

Having met a fair few Pakistani and Indian's, some are weak, and some are extremely strong at say arm wrestling.

However the main thing is, can they box? Not really possible if you don't teach them from a young age and get in good trainers who also know the game. It will take at least 30 years IMO to get the right system in.

Give the Pakistanis some time. Mexicans weren't always great at boxing. The sport had been around a while before the first Mexican champion appeared. Boxing is now a big part of the culture, so there are a lot of Mexican champions. Something similar can happen with Pakistan, as long as the people like the sport. Despite what some here would love to believe, no one has a genetic lock on boxing.

lol@ people thinking boxing is a gentic thing

pakistan is one of the most ethnically diverse countries in the world.

At this moment in time, boxing influence is weak in the country. i suppose many people thier have other worries and issues which they are facing.

I admire, amir for attempting to introduce new talent from asia. which will only make boxing bigger and more competitive.

I however, do firmly believe thier is alot of raw hidden talent within that country. it just needs to be found. i agee with Cu****uyNYC once the first champion is found thier, many others will follow through.

The toughest sports come down to genetics. Why'd you think certain tribes that have evolved in the Rift Valley (Ethiopia/Kenya) do so well in long-distance running?

That's a great deed he want's to do for his people. I'm sure Pakistan as
a nation is very proud of his success. He also helps make the U.K. a better
place by building a gym for all who wish to use.

Some of the people, mostly in the north, in Pakistan are very strong. They're raised in tough circumstances and do a lot of labour work from a young age.
