Comments Thread For: Amir Khan Looks To Establish Boxing School in Pakistan

Amir Khan is proposing the idea of establishing a university of fisticuff excellence in Pakistan - the country of his ancestors.

The aim is to discover, nurture and develop boxing talent to elevate the sport to the world level in this "Kings' College."

It will involve Amir visiting Pakistan to see for himself and to plan accordingly. The next step is for the Government of Pakistan to offer a piece of land where the facility can be built.

Danny Garcia's Dad Angel is all in Amir's head because said he never met a Pakistani that could box and he might be right because the Pakistani's are raised with a AK-47 in their hands from birth they learn to shoot before they learn to punch.

Pakistan is a place that could produce some serious boxing talent. I watch cricket and see their athletic fast bowlers, they've also had some success at sports like squash and hockey, so the athletic ability is there. I also remember some pak boxer comin over here to the UK to turn pro, think he won a Commonwealth gold, can't remember his name.

They've also got other Olympians and Commonwealth medalists so let's see how they improve with better facilities.

Heck, wherever boxing goes I'm happy, the wider the diversity of it all, the better the sport gets.

Hussain Shah was his name won Bronze in 88 Olympics got signed by Maloney but couldnt cut it as a pro

athletic ability is one thing but its a tough country to live in so the "WILL" is there wats needed is the "SKILL" the problem is the culture and trend towards boxing is just not there yet

No mate, it still requires high levels of fitness and mental ability. Granted they're not built like boxers but they are athletes nonetheless. If they were referring to dart players I would say something but Cricket is just like any other sport.

Pakistan has the ability to provide some really top class boxers, they're bought up the hard way in that country, and if Kazakhstan could help with some trainers I think we could have some decent prospects coming.
