Even I don't like Bird, but I can never call him a ducker. He will fight anyone, he wanted to fight Lennox Lewis for years. Anyone that goes to Germany to fight Wlad has balls in my book.

      Doesn't matter.

Either way he goes out as the most underrated heavyweight champion in the longest damn time.

I think that his skills were underrated at his peak, IMO he was the best HW defensive fighter of all time. His title reign is a testament to perserverance, skill, heart, and professionalism. And yes the era that he fought in was weak, but he fought the best out there...

          Wlad Klitschko 2x
          Vitali Klittschko
          Ike Ibeabuchi
          David Tua
          Andrew Golota
Jameel McCline(who outweighed Chris by 70lbs.)
          Fres Oquendo

His resume is excellent, for todays HWs and he has achieved FAR more than most professionals acheive. An undersized HW with the balls and skill to fight the big boys. Plus his outside the ring manner, politeness, and Christain lifestyle is admirable.

All of these things make Chris Byrd a champion, belt or no belt.

            yeah nice post Cita.

Yeah I've always opposed Byrd for the most part....but he is a good guy and excellent champ.

I was just bitter about him outpointing Holy and Tua, I suppose I still am.

Thanx, and yes when I saw him beat Holyfield the way he did, I felt some resentment too. But he was polite and respectful after the fight, like he always is.

Yeah, give Byrd some credit, but this is his last and only chance for the big payday and that is the reason he is taking the fight. Atleast he is going out like a man.

Byrd will lose badly. We may see a stoppage.

his resume is a joke, just like you.

                    wlad beat his ass.
                    so did vitali.
                    so did ike.
                    and golota.
                    mccline is a joke.
                    so is oquendo.
beating tua isnt that hard. hell, maskaev and rahman almost beat tua.

hes just one of many paper champions who is the constant recipient of gift decisions (thanks to don king). byrd is an insult to the HW division.

Find me a resume of a current, active, top HW fighter who is better. And why am I joke? Cause I like Byrd? Whats your problem, I never had beef with you.
