I do agree that Rios looked like a 12yr old amateur. Ironically, a couple year ago Floyd made Pac's daddy look like a 6yr old amateur.
How am I overhyping Pac's performance when he won 12 out of 12 rounds? I'm not sure why the whole Pac's daddy thing was thrown Into the discussion . The Floyd-Pac back and forth daily debate Is beyond old at this point. Floyd Is great and his style suits fans that enjoy a more defensive technical boxer type. Pacquiao Is more of an offensive, explosive seek and destroy type of fighter. Everyone has there preference.

Fight doesn't have to happen at 140.
Its not about wanting the fight-its asking is the fight relevant. I don't see how it is given that Provodnikov, as you said, had a great year and increased his profile significantly. He won a title belt. Why would he fight Rios at 147 and not 140-which is rios weight class.

The only argument for this fight is on paper it suggests action/excitement. when did that become the primary reason why fights are made?

Both guys say they prefer to fight at 147.

Lara v Mayweather is possibly the most relevant fight Floyd could take right now, but I still don't want to see it because chances are it won't be all that entertaining.

I think the HBO-Showtime ratings war has upped the ante on action fights, particularly on the HBO side of the table since they lost some star power and are relying on the "product" more than ever.

Entertainment is important but should NEVER surpass the actual competition and sport otherwise maybe wwe is more suited for you. Absolutely agree with the last poster, relevance and reality is where it's at otherwise ill just go to a bar and watch two drunks go for it if I wanna watch rios at this stage with no tune up direction or purpose. Like the whole rigondeaux thing REALLY bothers me, the sheep (consumers/general public) change their mind on what is hot and what's not on Nearly a monthly basis so it's a slippery slope for the promoters and networks trying to follow the sheeps lead on what's entertaining or not. Just put the best against the best with a ranking system the best you can and if people tune in then great or if they don't then **** off and watch UFC. Seriously what sport in the world can you think of where the athletes ( rigo , klitschko , floyd) are hated for being too good haha people crack me up

if not for bob's beef with gbp we could have provo having a go at garcia, which i'd much prefer

rios should fighting the likes of khan/alexander

he has 2 losses, from brutal wars, should take a lower ranked fighter and build himself back up the ranks

A fight above 140 between 2 guys who are 0-2 above 140 makes no sense unless the point is to have a meaningless fight that protects the loser because its not in their weight class. Thats why I am asking about relevance. If Provod were even fighting Porter or Garcia-it would be more compelling and relevant.

Weebler I agree in theory but action is never guaranteed. But Winning and losing means something. I think if you make compelling, relevant fights among winners then fans will want to watch.

If you make all action slugfests for losers or established veterans looking to return to the spotlight-cool-thats what ESPN and BAD undercards are for.

This fight is great for the fans but I fear for Rios if this fight is made. One thing we know about Provo is you don't stand in front of him. Rios is tough & can hit but Provo is a different kind of animal that will grind you up if you stand & trade. I'm still not convinced Tim Bradley didn't leave something in the ring after his fight with Ruslan. I would much rather see Ruslan fight Maidana or even Garcia. If Matthysse can get back on track him & Ruslan would be a FOY candidate for sure.

It's HBO's beef with GBP preventing Provo v Garcia.

And people actually hate on Rios?
Come on dude is always willing to accept any challenge unlike so many of these fighters nowadays

                      Who is Porter with, GBP?

We'd all like to see Provo v Garcia but we also have to be realistic, the network situation precludes that from happening.

                      Provodnikov is left with:

Pacquiao - Provo. doesn't want to fight Pac
Marquez - JMM doesn't want to fight Provo.
Bradley - Tim wants to fight Pac, in no hurry for Provo II
Alvarado - just lost to Provo
Khabib - no money in that fight
Abregu - no money in that fight

Rios - wants the fight, Provo wants the fight and on paper it's the best action fight.
