Actually - the title of the article is a little disingenuous, Kovalev hardly 'rips' Shumenov does he? It's more like he's pointing out something we all know - the ridiculousness of the growth in the number of Alphabet titles and the consequent dilution of their worth. In the case of Shumenov it's obviously a guy in his own division and so of direct relevance to his future prospects.

Everytime, Kovalev opens his mouth. He says negative comments about other fighters. He comes across very jealous of the champions and classless. He uses their name to get in the press. While on the other hand, Shumenov's performance last Saturday was very impressive and I look forward to Hopkins/Shumenov unification next year. I think this is another reason for Kovalev's slanderous comments towards Shumenov, plus the fact that Shumenov has more class and money outside the ring, too.

Kovalev has been a champ three years less then Shumenov and already has been a better champion. People ask him what he thinks and he responds. Its not his job to build up the confidence of this guy. Also it is hard to call it slanderous when it is the truth.
