I'm not so sure. I think Morales may have learned his lesson from last time, he's never taken a beating like that before. I think he will be a lot more cautious, and maybe bring his right hand in front of his face to block the straight left. I'm still gonna pick Pac, but by a close decision. -
Back in 1999, a 20-year old fighter, wan and weak after trying to make weight just five hours previously, climbed the ring at the Pakpanag Stadium, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Thailand, to face the undefeated local ring hero Medgoen Singsurat. It was billed as his second defense of the WBC Flyweight crown he had won a year earlier by KOing another Thai, Chatchai Sasakul. It would have been had the WBC just hours earlier not stripped him of the belt for failing to make weight.
He had been given the option not to go on with the fight (there was no more title anyway). His manager was willing to return the downpayment and reimburse reasonable costs. But the Thai promoter pleaded. The twenty year old former champ conceded. The fight was on and so he found himself in the ring, bereft of the confidence (that many called ****iness) that always accompanied his ring appearances. The few Filipinos and fans of other nationalities who were on hand saw it as omenous. They could see that even smiling appeared an ordeal for the young man; waving was a minor struggle.
Two rounds, 1 minute and 32 seconds later, he was prone on the mat, felled by a punch to the stomach, winded. He fought to rise. But the referee mercifully waved it off.
His name is Manny Pacquiao.Last edited by grayfist; 06-09-2006, 10:14 AM.Comment

Why is there such controversy about this issue. Why don't they just do what is in the contract. Manny P wore the winning gloves in the first fight and Morales should fight at the contracted weight of 130. All of a sudden he is having trouble making weight just like Castillo. The thing is, I don't see how people can defend their arguments that Pacquiao should let Morales slide and weigh in at 132 or that Corrales should have fought Castillo regardless of the advantages Castillo may have comming in heavier. If both Castillo and Morales win, these nuthugging fans act like they fought on a level playing field. I hear some nuthuggers braggin about how Castillo messed Corrales up in the rematch like he was playing fair and square. The same people are saying that Castillo would do the same in the rubber match anyway if it did not get cancelled. Duh, Castillo would have the advantage and was also the reason why he was able to ko Corrales in the rematch much easier. You could see the difference immediately of how much the added weight gave castillo. I swear Morales and Castillo nuthuggers would let their fighters come into the ring with a bat if it helped them win. Nice to see that Mexicans are loyal to their fighters though. Even if they are wrong.Comment

Do you understand what's a contract?

You **** off, Manny don't have to accept ****. You got it all turned around with your nuthugging ass. Morales is sitting on Pacquiao's table now. He signed the ****ing contract so Manny don't have to give him ****. Why does Manny have to yield to Morales? If Morales wants to come in 132 he is more than welcome, he just has to fork over some of his purse to Manny for his penalty. In the 2nd fight Manny was drooling for some of that extra cash thinking Morales would come in overweight. Why does Manny have to make the sacrifice for the sake of pride. He has a long career ahead of him and allowing Morales to come in 132 is a risk. Manny does not know how much of an advantage Morales would have, if any, by comming in heavier. If Morales is the proud warrior he is, than he should have no problem getting penalized in exchange for feeling more comfortable. He has to give something up on his end to do so. Why would Manny let him do it for free when he can make more money fighting Morales at 132? Your an idiot if you think Manny would let Morales outsmart him like that. If Morales is a warrior than he should man up, pay the penalty for comming in 2 pounds heavier and beat Pacquiao at that weight like he says he can. Otherwise he better shut up and do what the head of the table says. Its not like he does not have a choice like Pacquiao did not get with the gloves situation. You are probably one of those nuthuggers that said the gloves won't make a difference and when Morales lost blamed the gloves. You guys are sorry and are sucking so hard on Morales' nuts that your eyes are spinning to the back of your head. That is why you can't see the truth.Originally posted by ferocity**** off, if manny was confident then accpt the fight or just move on against barrera.Comment
