I got to watch some of it, I was young, but Tyson in the 80s and 90s was legendary, he was like batman or superman, there were video games, all kinds of references everywhere, he was an icon.

casual boxing fans know of pacman and mayweather today, while it seemed like not just boxing fans, not just sports fans but everyone knew who mike tyson was. i can't speak for people who were actually around at the time but watching documentaries and old clips you'd think tyson was a global superstar on a world tour or something lol. it intrigues me to see the pressure and the weight on tyson's shoulders being the first mega PPV superstar in the sport of boxing
