Back when it was Cassius Clay versus Sonny Liston, not so much. For one reason or another, people have wanted to see Ali beaten over the years, whether it was for his politics, his mouth or his fighting style. Fight fans of his time regularly accused him of running. It was really only sometime after Ali retired that the love started. People started looking back and reassessing. Of course, Ali always had his supporters; but, much like Rigo, he had a lot of detractors. A similar phenomenon occurred with Holmes.

Well, you know more than me, because I just started to watch him against Jerry Quarry. But what you say about Ali seems to be hostility, hate or something like that, not indifference. Controversy can make an artist popular and marketable, as Broner has been up to now. Rigo problem is indifference, I think.Comment

I don't know...Money and Son of God are pure boxers just like El Chacal but I've never, ever, ever changed the channel during any of their fights....EVER!!!
El Chacal had me changing the channel...I watched his fight until about the 5th round when Roger Mayweather stopped giving a f.u.c.k about the fight.
I came back at the 11th round and I saw the same ol s.h.!.t so I just turn down the volume so I wouldn't hear Kellerman cum in his pants at every punch El Chacal throw.
He needs to be punished and God bless HBO for taking him to task and beginning his banishment effective immediately!!!!Comment

We're probably around the same age. My Clay reference was based soley on historical knowledge. I wasn't there to witness it. You're right, there was never any indifference to Ali; but we're talking about greats not being appreciated in their time. I think that applied to Ali. Rigo isn't simply unappreciated, people are indifferent as well. Of course, Ali was also the heavyweight champion. He was tougher to ignore.Comment

There's no doubt, Rigo sits back too much sometimes. He could've gotten a scared-to-death Rico Ramos out of there earlier than the sixth round, too. But Guillermo has also pounced on guys that didn't show nearly so much reverence, like Willie Casey. I don't know what goes through his head in moments like those, but he's clearly capable of getting quite aggressive.Comment

I seriously question whether people have even seen floyd's past fights when I read posts like this. Floyd is not a boring fighter. He has had some boring fights. Notably baldomir and delahoya recently and perhaps to some extent jmm as he completely dominated but didn't press as hard as he coyld. Alot of floyds early fights are packed with action. Hernandrz, chavez, manfredy, augustus, corralles, ndou, corley, judah, gatti, mitchrll, hatton, ssm, cotto, ortiz, guerrero were not boring fights. Floyd being a boring fighter is a misnomer. He's a guy who won' t get reckless to stop you and has had some boring fights, but he's also had alot of good ones.Comment

His division is an issue but not as big as some people think. Lara is a good example. If rigo was at lightweight or above it would be the same and nobody would give a **** about him and his boringass style.Comment

Personally, I love watching Rigo putting on a master class. I'm also aware action,AKA blood & guts, sells tickets.
Is it possible Rigo and his team would consider going on a sort of world tour?
Lots of little guys around the globe and some of them need KO'D. If he came to the UK then I'd be snap buyin a ticket.
