Comments Thread For: Garcia Will Take No Chances With Juan Carlos Burgos

WBO super featherweight champion Mikey Garcia (33-0, 28KOs), and his trainer/brother Robert Garcia, are taking no chances with the challenge of top contender Juan Carlos Burgos (30-1-2, 20KOs). They are set to fight on January 25th at the Theater in New York's Madison Square Garden.

Garcia will be making the first defense of his WBO crown after winning the title from Roman Martinez in November. Burgos had a controversial draw with Martinez in January and then came back to a surprising lackluster draw with Yakubu Amidu in July.

I like mikey a lot I don't think he gets the credit of being a big puncher like ggg, kov, or Stevenson but he gets people out of there and he's resume is just as good as those fighters. mikey can really punch

Should be a good fight early in the year, mikey will step it up and fight somebody better later. Should be a big year for him.

Garcia might have to be the lead puncher in this one, burgos is pretty good off the back foot. Having said that, he prob doesn't have enough pop to steal momentum and make things convincing... mikey hits hard AF
