  • Comments Thread For: Burns Not Worried About Jaw, Training For Crawford

Ricky Burns has returned to the gym again after being given the all-clear to resume his boxing career.

Burns had to undergo surgery after breaking his jaw during a controversial draw with Raymundo Beltran in September.

But the World Boxing Organisation's lightweight champion says he is still planning on returning to the ring as early as possible with a title defence against Terence Crawford in Glasgow scheduled for February.

Crawford looked awful in his last fight I don't care how dominant he was, he better stop fighting out of that southpaw stance because he doesn't have a straight left hand nor does he have a right hook, he may use the right hook consistently but the technique is really off and he isn't accurate with it at all. As for Burns, Burns has regressed as a fighter, senseless bouncing around too. Burns used to have a really good stiff jab, a good 1-2 punch combination but now lunges in off balance and exposes himself to counters. Not rooting for any in particular, may root for Burns don't really know but hopefully it's entertaining.

Crawford was disappointing, it was clearly supposed to be a showcase fight and he didn't take advantage at all against someone who offered nothing in return.

Exactly, and I'm shocked to hear people call into ThaBoxingVoice and defend that shitty performance. Where is the logic in backing up against a fighter who is only offering a guard? I mean, press him and break through the openings, it's simple really

What made me angry is that when Crawford did open up, he had plenty of success. He would only do so once a round though and immediately back away. People argued on here that Crawford was being careful against someone looking to counter? Maybe I'd buy that if Crawford didn't rip him up the few times in the fight when they exchanged.

Crwaford isn't a showman but he has skills to beat Burns.

PS. How long does a bad jaw break take to recover? Ortiz took a damn year off or more.

Ricky's WBO strap is as good as gone because Burns has no chance against Crawford!

Yeah but the year+ long layoff in addition to recovering was do a lot of his side business stuff as well as dancing with the stars.
