Yea, WBA evidently have a rule where if you defend the belt six times or something, you get elevated to Super... they also have a unified champion Super category.
That's how John was the Super for so long while there was a regular champ

Gotta be less than six defenses because they made that fraud Shumenov a "super duper champion" after he made four cupcake defenses in four years and then took 18 months off. They did it to give Braehmer a belt. I am guessing they just decide who pays them under the table enough and they promote belt holders to open up a spot below them.

OK - please tell me if I'm being insanely optimistic, but this still leaves GGG - Murray open doesn't it?

In fact it strengthens Murrays (albeit in a rather pointless way) position as a challenger, if not to the boxing hardcore, at least he could be sold be a titlist of sorts.

I still think (or rather hope) this is gonna build into a Murray - Golovkin fight that can at least be sold as a fight between (what will be called) champions.

If Murray wins, my money is on him either fighting Sturm or doing the British run around next.
Even then... Fletcher is the #3... I guarantee you Geale will come out saying he's the mandatory and he wants the next fight.... all while Golovkin waits for his mandatory to nut up and fight him.

I don't know WTF is up with that honestly. You can't take an 18 month layoff and still hold your belt. I have no idea why they want Shumenov to hold onto the belt so badly

Beating James Degales and Adonys Stevenson on the amateurs is impressive. The press release kind of had me sold, but I just checked boxrec and he was knocked out by Billy Joe Saunders in two, which is disappointing.

I love how murray turns down ggg, and wants to wait to make the fight "bigger"

Murray already had the biggest fights he could have with sturm and serg, he is basically as big as he is ever going to get at this stage of his career,,

no matter who he fights, sturm and serg were the biggest possible fights for him besides ggg

Murray needs to fight ggg this summer, but i think he will milk his "title" for awhile trying to "build" the ggg fight

Don't really see a problem with this. It gives the broadcasters an opportunity to 'hype' a Murray-GGG fight.

This is all speculation
If Fletcher wins, He'll Eye Sturm and Sturm will most likely pick him up.
If not there are 3 domestic fights that'd probably be good for him
Soliman, Mundine and Geale.

Surprised if he actually fights Golovkin
