BoxingScene.com recently spoke with Egis Klimas who represents various fighters including WBO light heavyweight champion Sergey Kovalev. Klimas said that their preference is to unify titles with WBC light heayweight champion Adonis Stevenson, but admits that fight may not be feasible for Kovalev's next ring appearance.

"Fighting Stevenson is the biggest fight that can be made but we heard he may not fight till June or May," Klimas stated.

When you're blasting guys out within 4 rounds and you're not taking a lot of punishment along the way, you can fight 4 times a year. I've noticed a trend in the last several years of high profile fighters fighting more than the norm of 2 times a year e.g. Donaire, GGG.

It makes sense really - if you're fighting frequently you stay sharp, in shape and motivated

Exactly. The guys who only fight once or twice a year have the added worry of ring rust. Like you said, if the fights are ending early and the fighters aren't taking much punishment, fighting more often is advantageous.
