Without a referee's intervention, Calzaghe would have stopped Kessler.

Why compare completely different scenario's as though it's like for like?

There was not as big a demand for Calzaghe rematching Hopkins, it was a boring fight, and many people didn't want to see it again.

Groves vs Froch was a big domestic fight, it was a fairly one sided fight, most ring side press, commentators had Groves way ahead and thought it was prematurely stopped. It's also a huge domestic SMW rematch that is probably THE biggest fight open to both men.

Those things at least combined, can't entirely be said for any of Calzaghe's or Grove's prior fights.

The majority of people think Froch should do the rematch, Calzaghe falls in that category and is a retired guy from the same part of the world and division - that's more relevent that any of us thinking we should be heard out.

I am afraid George hit Carl far too hard in this fight for what Carl has come out with prior to and after the nightmare fight for him is totally beyond me.
Being from Carl's local area is at this time a tad embarrassing as we are ALL in shock regarding his attitude before this fight, the hammering he received during 90% of the fight and most of all his contradictory attitude after this fight.....Forget Ward 'going over old ground ' again with you as you MUST know it was hard to score you a round in that fight...the general feeling here in the realistic world from lots of people (nottingham folk) is this fight ended too quick ,
Groves was hurt , how hurt we will never know???
What is sure, if Carl fights anyone else next, given how the Groves rematch would pay and be an even bigger event than the first! This could only be seen as a complete swerve.
I hope Carl does the right thing for himself and his supporters but if my gut instinct is correct i'll go with what I thought immediately after the fight and that was 'Froch won't want to go any where near Groves again'.......I might of already been proved right!!.....I hope not

Not many men can wake up every morning knowing that they are Joe Calzaghe. For that alone, he lives as great a life as one can live.

Froch said: "Everyone could see what was going to happen in that fight and the fact is I have nothing more to prove in a rematch. I was dominating the bout and it was becoming very one-sided.

The point is that Calzaghe always said, that he would never do rematches and now he has the nerve to tell Froch to give one. It would be much less phoney if he told fans why Froch shouldn't give a return just as he himself never wanted to.

I, for the record, actually thought Joe beat Hopkins.
