Miracle Matthew was one of the most exciting fighters ever. I have only seen him in a few fights, but they were all barn burners with a lot of action. Those fights being Qawi II, Marvin Johnson II, and Lopez II fight when I was a lot younger.

He would be hurt in a lot of his fights in the early going, only to come back and land big shots of his own, stopping very solid opponents. The only guy he couldn't do that with in his prime was Qawi (which is nothing to be embarassed about, Qawi was a rock).

I can up the second MArvin Johnson fight when I get more time some day. It's a hell of a fight, shows everything that made Matt great.

He's a top 10-15 LWH for sure, maybe the most exciting prize fighter ever.

I remember Muhammad/Lopez II in particular.

If my memory serves me right, the 8th round of the fight was like the 9th round of Gatti/Ward I.

        Great stuff.

By the time he fought Qawi, he had already taken too much punishment, and was ripe to be taken. A real fight between him and Spinks would've been nice, however.

He's regarded as the single greatest action fighter in the history of Boxing.

He's one of my all time favorites. His story is amazing aswell. His mom past away when he was a child so he lived with his aunt, but she couldn't afford to raise him so she instucted his brother to take him to the park and leave him when he was little.

Here's his Bio from the Boxing Hall Of Fame

Saad, Gatti and Carmen Basilio are the most exciting fighters ever. Saad had amazing fights with Rickie Kates, two with Marvin Johnson and 2 with Yaqui Lopez. He knocked down Eddie Gregory (Mustafa Muhammad) within the first minute of their fight but lost a decision. it was early in their careers. sir Jose has it right with his life story too. Saad is a very nice man who offered some training tips to a guy making a movie in 1975. You may remember the guy, Sly Stallone? he got the running up the steps idea from Matthew. A book and movie are in the works for Saad's life, although they are going slowly. He was just with Stallone on Tuesday in Philadelphia as Rocky 6 was being filmed. I spent time with Marv Johnson, Yaqui Lopez, Eddie Mustafa and Saad last year, WOW!! what a time with all 4 of them together. I can't get the picture in here so go to announcerlarry.freeservers.com and look at the Photo page. If you get the chance to see ANY of his fights, I strongly suggest you watch and save them because he was the greatest mix of punching power/chin/desire and heart there has ever been.
