Comments Thread For: Schaefer: Mayweather-Maidana “Eventually Could Happen”

Given his style and personality, many have often referred to Adrien Broner as trying to follow in the footsteps of Floyd Mayweather. And now that Marcos Maidana has beaten up Broner and taken his welterweight world title, one question raised immediately afterward is whether Maidana could go on to face Mayweather.

Mayweather’s likely soon to announce his next bout, which is expected to take place in May. It’s presumed that his opponent will be former 140-pound titleholder Amir Khan. No official announcement has been made, however.

    Please no

This will be the most one sided fight in history

    Maidana will not land anything

He is to slow, to small, and can be hurt

It doesnt matter if it will be one sided the fact of the matter is maidana and danny garcia are the 2 most deserving fighters for a floyd shot right now. **** I wish danny and maidana could fight and then the winner gets floyd. In a perfect world...

I wouldn't be surprised if Maidana pulls it off. Last night was shown how you break the Philly shell and abuse it. You have to make it a tough, rough, ugly fight and you have to bully them. Similar to what Cotto did with mayweather, only Cotto doesn't have as much power and wasn't willing to get dirty and wild.

Woud prefer it over Khan. Maidana knows who he is as a fighter. He would come out guns blazing like he did against broner and make it a war.

Khan would try to be cute with his predictable combo's and get KO'ed. Maidana would make mayweather fight!!!!!

yes it really worked for Canelo, The Ghost and the 20 other brawlers Floyd has fought, many of whom were more skilled and powerful than Maidana

Broner is playweather, cracking Broner philly shell, even Gavin Reese and Pauli managed to do it, Floyd is something else, a defensive master

Broner is the polar opposite, just another Berto, easy to hit.

Apart from the fact Mayweather can actually use that type of defence properly and Broner can't.

I really like Maidana but he won't touch Mayweather.
