I think Stevenson's year was overrated too. He beat a journeyman in Boone, Cloud coming off 2 losses (no need to sugar coat he lost to Campillo), Dawson coming of a TKO loss and Bell-lol.

      Quality over quantity.

People are putting that much stock in Dawson, and I don't understand it. Fighter of the Year? No way, no how, not over Rigo or Bradley or Floyd.

By the way, EVERYONE is mentioning Kovalev in the same sentence as Stevenson these days. It's fast becoming the fight most boxing fans want to see.
That is called Hype is something common in boxing welcome to boxing btw. Let me be the first to tell you that you do not have to be a sheep, and hype has proven to be an unreliable source of information, and not to say Kovalev isn't the good but when all you beat is second to third rate and your crown ***el is fking cleverly yeah that is hype. Ill take Dawson and Don king's lamb over the last 4 guys kovalev fought combined any day.

Stevenson would have been a legit option to be competitive in this poll.

Kovalev beat one of his opponents so badly that the guy died. Is that just hype too?

Not to say Kovalev isn't good, but killing someone in the ring doesn't make you a great fighter.

So beating Tavoris Cloud is better than destroying the guy who beat Tavoris Cloud, and three other fighters, including another who beat Tony Bellew, combined?

Triangle theories now and equating killing an over matched opponent with being the truth ? This is getting ridiculous I see the hype's grip is too strong to do anything here.

How is beating Cloud better than beating Campillo? How is Bellew better than Cleverly? How can you say Stevenson had a FOTY type year and Kovalev doesn't belong in the same sentence? That's ridiculous.
