Ukrainian cruiserweight Roman Golovashchenko (13-1, 10 KOs) made a successful heavyweight debut and scored a convincing win over Turkish veteran Yakup Saglam (31-4, 28 KOs) over twelve rounds. Golovaschenko was better in combinational punching and also was in better shape. His opponent was breathing hard after four rounds already. Saglam had his chances in some exchanges and even scored a dubious knockdown in the fifth after a hard blow below the beltline. He was also deducted a point for that in a strange twist of judical mishandling. The Ukrainian looked better after that, pressing action against the Turkish fighter, who concentrated solely on hugging and showboating. Scores were announced in front of the roaring crowd and were hardly reconizable. Yet, BoxingScene understood it as 115-115, 119-107 and 118-112 - for Roman Golovaschenko with a majority decision.
