Except Floyd would get paid a record breaking fee to fight Manny Pacquiao and still wants no part, instead bringing forth all manner of excuses. If Geale was offered just 10% of what Floyd is offered, he'd jump at fighting Golovkin, ditto the rest of the MW division. There's no defending Floyd I'm afraid.

When Geale got the GGG offer his figure was probably 300k range.

It was 100% the right business move to drop the belt and fight mudine for 2m avenge his loss in a relatively easy fight. If he fought and lost the title to GGG it is much less likely mundine would have given geale this payday.

The barker fight also made sense and talk of sturm and if he won both there he would probably fight GGG in 2015. This really seems optimal as he is going to have a lot of trouble with GGG and if he is going to lose and possibly lose badly in terms of damage, it makes more sense to delay taking on the GGG killer.

Waiting for the barker re-match if he beat sturm was the smart move as well and even if he was offered the Monte Carlo date their is less money there as it has no HBO date, so there was never a chance of getting a top guy fighting on that date.

Now he has less lucrative options, it is worth taking the hard road and smaller money to fight GGG and hope for the upset.

I say well done to Geale for stepping and publically with his promoter saying he is open to the fight. It will be interesting to see if it will go twelve rounds and how GGG handles the higher level of competition.

Let's not get into another blame game on Floyd vs Pac. I meant the planned Khan fight. Khan is obviously a more lucrative opponent than just about any other realistic choice, yet people keep going on and on about how the fight is a disgrace and how Floyd should fight Thurman, Lara, Martinez, GGG etc. instead.

        But Geale gets a pass?

          You didnt read

          GGG vs Geale estimated 300-500k
          vs
          Mundine vs Geale 2m

You really think Geale is going to have a long career of 2m paydays+ and should turn this down??

Good news hope its true but i'll wait until Geale actually signs the contract before getting excited. Prior to the Barker fight everyone had Geale in the top 3 at MW (rightfully so) and Golovkin detractors insistant he was the #2 but now the same will say its a meaningless opponent and fight.

People need to realize at this point that very little, if anything, separates Geale, Sturm, Barker, Murray, and Macklin. They are all the same class of fighter, as proven by their fights with each other. It would be ****** to criticize Golovkin fighting any of them, as if the others are somehow better.

@RealDealGeale just read you guys turned down @gggboxing for Feb1.
What was the issue? Just curious...waiting for @sturm_bp

@KFZ001 we couldn't commit before the Barker v Sturm fight as we were waiting for rematch, they signed someone before then. Defo late 2014.
Hmm. Curious... I very much hope this gets made, but I had kinda been thinking that Murray - GGG could be in the works for after Adama. Geale does seem to be saying late 2014 here tho, - so is it too much to hope for GGG - Murray next, then GGG - Geale later in the year?

Where would that leave the possibility of a Maravilla fight tho?

I just want the Adama fight done already so we can see how things are gonna unfold.
