Comments Thread For: Sergey Kovalev Open To Facing Andre Ward at 175

BoxingScene.com and other select members of the media recently spoke to WBO light heavyweight champion Sergey Kovalev (23-0-1, 21KOs) and his team. Kovalev had a successful 2013, going 4-0, and hopes for bigger fights in the coming year.

Kovalev's manager Egis Klimas is very interested in having his fighter face WBC light heavyweight champion Adonis Stevenson. It appears that Stevenson may face another opponent for his next title defense which would mean a fight against Kovalev may have to wait till the second half of the year. [Click Here To Read More]

No catch weight Kovalev will have to be fully drained at 168 just like Dawson had to.

I'd rather Ward wait for Stevenson and Kovalev to fight, but if Stevenson doesn't want any, Ward should consider this.

Ward wants Chavez unfortunately. He denies it but I think he wants to leave Goosen so he can get that fight.

I don't know why. Nobody is demanding it and its a **** fight. It will bomb on PPV unless Chavez makes a comeback and beats Froch, Kessler, GGG, or somebody which I don't think he can. I will criticize him just like I do Floyd for cherry picking Khan.

Not yet, not yet! Stevenson-Kovalev FIRST.

Winner fights (and loses) to Ward. (I am a big Kovalev fan too)

Dawson called Ward out and said he would come down to 168. This was not Ward's request.

Kovalev vs Ward is not happening because Ward and Virgil are not ready to move up and based on this article Kovalev is not moving down. Hope this can happen in a couple of years.
