it's definitely a choice. and it's not just about whether you wanna get hit or not. it's boxing, you're going to get hit no matter what so it's ****** to think that a fighter doesn't want to get hit.

if you always maintains a safe distance of course you don't get hit that much...but that doesn't click with fans is what i'm pointing out. you can actually take some risk and avoid getting hit if you're that really skilled.

He can't afford to pass up opportunities like this in the future.

Thanks for the interview. It's long. I listened the the first ten minutes. I'll catch the rest later.

This thing about "insulting" purses and all is just too much. Being offered less money than Shiming in Macau is no insult. The guy makes more money than most heavyweights. I understand Rigo's pride, but him and his management are missing the forrest for the trees. A fight (another fight, actually) on the undercard of a Pacquaio PPV is something to jump on. The exposure is tremendous. Arum must be like, "What is this guy thinking?"

I thought the same thing. "If he had more power." What? Rigo hits very hard. Guys in his weight class don't hit much harder.

I think some guys, like Rios, enjoy the exchange of blows. But I agree, if they could avoid more punches, they would. In most cases, I think fighters would much more prefer hitting and not getting hit. There just aren't many with that kind of talent.

Getting hit is one thing, getting hit excessively is another. It's not so simple as maintaining a "safe distance". How many fighters can you name that are as hard to hit as as Rigo, regardless of style?

He cant headline an HBO show unless its a huge fight like donaire rematch, lomo etc

Rigo landed 12 punches a round against a punching bag. 144 over 12 rounds. The man is an offensive juggernaut.

Plus, his style is not good for the sports. Too much defense and almost no offense because he is too scared to risk.

                  He can't even speak English.

If he doesn't change his ways. I will say Adios in advance.
By the end of the day, boxing is more of a business than a sport and Rigo's style simply doesn't attract casual audience. He's also fighting at a lower weight which doesn't help his situation at all

Garcia is on point about everything except the power, Rigo has pop, he just refuses to take chances and go for the KO. He's content to win via UD. He's a great fighter though, boxing purists will love him and love to watch him, the only problem is there are very few boxing purists and they are heavily outnumbered by "fight fans".

I've had this argument with my dad and brother on several occasions, which would I rather see a slugfest or a boxing match? Most boxing fans would say slugfest because it's more entertaining. I would rather see a good, exciting fight: inside fighting, combinations, etc. That's fun to watch (Corrales-Castillo). rather than 2 ******s just swinging for the fences, anyone can do that off the street, I enjoy chess matches too though. But to make big bucks you have to entertain and Rigo's style just isn't entertaining to most boxing fans. It's unfortunate but it's how it is, this is a business.
