    What's a Bantam?

Why is it called Bantam weight? And what does Welter mean?

Excellent question, most of the times they refer to the divisions I just wish they just said the weight instead so more people can understand what they mean, its 118 and 147 unless I'm mistaken.

Thank you for clarifying that. They should just call it "kind of small weight" or something so there aren't so many crazy words.

In Spanish, they call bantamweights "Gallos", which means roosters.

A bantam is a variety of dwarf chicken. They are tiny little bastards and lay worthless little eggs. They're cute though. I used to have a bunch of 'em.

Which doesn't make sense coz dwarf chickens are heavier than their feather, but featherweights are the heavier class than bantamweights. ???

yeah I knew it was something to do with chickens. i used to think they were called walterweights at 147. i figured some guy named walter was the first one to fight at that weight. but i thought that when i was a kid b/c i saw a mr. t movie and these people with an accent sounded like they were saying walterweights.
