  • Comments Thread For: Murray: I’d Definitely Be Up For a Fight With Golovkin

Martin Murray has big plans for 2014 but knows he must first get past Belarusian Sergey Khomitsky at the ExCeL London on Saturday night, live on Sky Sports. Murray rematches a man he beat in 2009 as part of a stacked 16-fight card this weekend but will have to be wary of the underdog against a former sparring partner.

If he is successful an exciting New Year beckons for Murray, who has been linked with a blockbuster fight against WBA World champion Gennady Golovkin.

“I beat Khomitsky back in 2009 and I had him over for sparring in the build-up to my fight with Felix Sturm,” he said. “He’s had a lot of notice for this fight so we know he’s ready. He’s no walk-over, he’s game and he’s going to come here to look for the win. The fans will see two people in there who want to win so it should be an interesting fight.

All these things always after the fact.

Geale and Murray all over Golovkin now.

Seriously... Murray, you are not a fighter to build up to, you're a fighter used for a build up

“I’d definitely be up for a fight with Golovkin. I want that fight but when it comes round I want to be a big as it can be to generate the most money. If the money is right"

Flavor Flav couldn't hype up that fight! And he was the best in the business! But if all GGG can get is Murray to fight him, so be it.

A lot of fighters at 160 says they'll fight Golovkin but there's always some type of stipulation. I understand money being a big factor in a fighter's decisions but winning a title would help earn more money. If you think you can beat him, then take the fight.

What a joke....If you want to build it up, your next fight better be against Geale or Sturm.
Who the hell else can he fight to build up to Golovkin?

It's reverse build your name up because you're not big enough to fight me.

Literally everybody says that.... oh, I want the fight to be built up.
They're not fighting anybody to build up a fight.

K2 need to make Murray a big offer. The guy has gone to Germany to fight Sturm, and to Argentina to fight Martinez and arguably got robbed both times. He's entitled to ask for a significant payday, and if the money isn't there, it isn't there, he can go fight the Macklin-Lee winner or someone else.
