Golovkin grew his fanbase real quickly, boxing fans talk about him a lot because of his insane knockout percentage and skills. Will Kovalev be able to grow his fanbase similar to GGG now that he is getting on HBO?

Golovkin v Stevens pulled 1.5 million, Kovalev v Sillakh, 1.5 million.

Only difference is GG was headlining.

Kovalev should be famous soon enough among Eastern Europeans in Europe and those in the United States. He should have a fight at Madison Square Garden and if he wins in spectacular fashion as he has been doing lately then he should become a star.

Didn't know the numbers for then... that's pretty good.

If Duva takes the GGG route, keep him in the public's face... he should be drawing them up.
Have him headline MSG...or what'd be even cooler... put him and Golovkin on the same card.
        That'd be cool

Hopefully. There's no reason for KOvalev not to have a large fanbase. He's humble, he's a solid puncher and boxer. But he is foreign and for some reason that's enough grounds for hate for some people.

Foreign people aren't hated that much.
GGG is well liked, Pac is very well liked, Kovalev has a good shot... his ****y attitude might even turn over some Americans

I think it is, with the effort HBO are expending on Kovalev people are taking notice!

Golovkin clearly has the bigger fan base, but Kovalevs is growing!

Stevenson vs Bellew drew 1.3 million not 1.5..

As long as he keeps getting fights on HBO and keeps winning, it will grow. Fans will always buy into knockout punchers, and Kovalev has a personality behind his in ring performance as well.
