Pacquiao IRS Story: Mainstream Media vs Boxing Media

The mainstream media is all over this. The boxing writers, 95% of whom make no money and only contribute to some pathetic blog on an obscure corner of the internet, are stunningly silent on such a big story.

Hmmmmmm...it's almost like reporting on a story that would inevitably indict Bob Arum for wrongdoing is being avoided so as not to be blacklisted from Top Rank media events and fight credentials.

Mainstream actually has real journalists. Not kids playing with mommy's camera or cut and paste twitter hacks.

They've been doing this for years because they fear the consequences in bold.

Bob will continue to bribe and deceive at his leisure with minimal criticism and Thomas Hauser will continue to write essays about Golden Boy's shortcomings...

I'm surprised to see so many of you are all aware that this takes place.

I don't think there is no more blatantly obvious example of this than Steve Kim and his twitter feed.

Once upon a time Maxboxing was one of the first and only sites to report on boxing. Since that time though they are now totally irrelevant, the site hardly gets any hits, and while former writers like Doug Fisher and Erik Raskin have used it to launch their careers to bigger and better things, Steve Kim is forced to allow Gabriel Montoya to use it as a platform to spew is pretend anti-PED crusade and "Radio Rahim" to continue his pipe dream of one day being an on-camera reporter and a paid one at that.

Steve Kim himself hasn't had a real "break" in ages, and the last time he tried to get one, he erroneously reported that his "sources" claimed Canelo was going to be fighting Floyd Mayweather next in May of 2012. The next day the opponent was announced as Cotto.

The only real contact he has left is Bob Arum, who only answers his called so that Steve can spew his propaganda. Thus Steve kisses his butt so that he can still get his calls answered.

Which leaves us to today, where a major story about a major Top Rank fighter breaks, and what does Steve Kim do? He makes one retweet of the TMZ article and then disappears entirely. Just a few hours earlier, he had many at least 20 tweets and retweets about Floyd ducking Manny, Khan sucks, blah blah blah.

Sadly they are all this way. If a fighter or rep for one gives them the time of day, the reporter kisses their butt. Dan Rafael is like this with Wlad, Nonito, and B-Hop. Elie Seckback with the Oxnard crew. Fighthype with Floyd, although Fighthype is like Fox News - when everyone else swings in one direction, it aint so bad if you're the only guy going in the other.

95% of boxing reporters are just superfans wanting to pretend that they are part of the scene. Instead they are basically groupies what desperately want to be taken seriously but are really just servers losers living off the dole aka our taxes dollars.

He's like the Dana White of his own little world. He wants to control boxing so bad, but Al Haymon's got the market on lock.
