Comments Thread For: Team Leapai Are "Super Confident" of Klitschko Upset

Requests to meet royalty and a prime minister, a potential seven-figure pay day and a chance to win three heavyweight boxing word titles - life is pretty sweet right now for Alex Leapai.

The 34-year-old Queenslander's recent points win over WBO No.1 contender Denis Boytsov has opened all kinds of doors.

boytsov was as overrated as they come & alex leapai didn't have some awesome fight plan. he is a jimmy thunder clone. he telegraphs every punch, has no jab, doesn't move his head & throws an uppercut from left field that has a sign that says "please counter me" written all over it. he is a journeyman with a marginal skillset on a good night. he has power but he has no business getting in the ring with wladimir klitschko. wlad should vacate if he truly wants the best fights to end his career but i have my doubts. i bet the fight happens down under on a big stage. easy payday & i can hardly blame him for taking it. i'm "super confident" leapai gets his ass beat in a couple rounds...

The fight will not happen in Australia, that's ridiculous. Lepei will take his ass beating down in Germany and he will agree to all terms dictated by Team Klitschko (and rightfully so, they need to squeeze him down to a Minimum wage-esque purse).

And no, Wlad should not vacate his title. Is Wlad wasting everyone's time by making it a highly promoted PPV event? NO. If he were then you might be correct. As it is, he is a One-Division Heavyweight Champion who is in it to defend his titles and rack up a defense record against all-comers, past-prime fighters, young up and comers, veteran contenders and the occasional flash-in-the-pan like David Haye. All Wlad needs to do is give us at least three fights per year, and he is golden. There is nobody that he is ducking and if there is a perception that he is ducking someone, THEN EVEN BETTER because that will at least make it a bigger fight.

What good is it to rush in beating Pulev's ass? Eventually all the mandatories get their turn and so will he.

Does Floyd Mayweather tap into a new market by having a fight in Mexico every time he fights a Mexican?

Because he has a exclusive contract with a German network and will try to accommodate their viewers timezone. Unless it's the United States and HBO is involved, then the German's come second. Either way, he is not getting much more money by traveling to Australia to "Tap into a new market". That's what Roy Jones and James Toney do.

Just don't think the money is there compared to Germany. Who's going to pony up some cash for there? Especially if Leapai expects a 7 figure purse. Best chance for that is in Germany

we are not talking Floyd. he has nothing to do with this fight. i have seen strangers things & it's not on PPV in Germany so it's not like they can't air it. who knew the Russian would pay 23 million? let's see what happens at the purse bid & take it from there...
