IMO he was to inexperienced to be in with a fighter the magnitude of Kirkland. He needed about 4 more fights and another year of experience before he stepped up his level of competition. And not with a ****er like Kirkland.

So true. How can you tell a boy "open yours eyes!" in the corner and the throw him to the center of the ring. Disgusting.

...I concur...that last shot was completely unnecessary...upon watching the replay it appears as if Kirkland shouted some kind of expletive right after throwing the shot...maybe he was frustrated that he couldn't put Tapia down...but whatever, there is no excuse, Smoger clearly halted the bout and Timbuktu/Koonta-Kinteh/Skaka-Zulu Warrior or whatever he wants to call himself blatantly tried to Floyd-Ortiz Tapia....completely classless and unsportsman-like...

Good glad he is ok he was a bit green in there and paid for it also his corner ****** monkey balls, he should work on that stamina and not punch himself out like that on the first ever again,he can be successful.

A fight like that one will drastically shorten Tapia's career. Poor work by his corner IMO. He took way too much punishment.

Why not cut down on some of that bulk and try fighting at 147? Tapia's not a big puncher at 154 and he's not exactly the best boxer. 154 is a nightmare division for him.

You know...it's funny cuz I thought the same thing but was second guessing myself because I thought it might of been a last second reaction but why would we expect any class from Kirkland? That is sad though and cowardly of him if he really did that knowing he didn't have too. But I wouldn't doubt it.

I kind of felt the same way...seemed like a cheap/cowardly shot but like I said in another post...why would we expect class from Kirkland...wouldn't make sense.
