Man, you said it just right. That is exactly the way I felt. I kept saying...get in there and stop it and it just kept going. Very unnecessary. That was horrible man. Seriously.

I'm still wondering why the hell they would put in such a young green fighter in there with James ****ing Kirkland. Like whose bright idea was that?

Also I thought the fight should have been stopped in round three if I remember correctly. Tapia really needs to work on his defense and inside game though. Few things I noticed aside from the fact his conditioning is pretty bad.

      Poor head movement
      No real inside game
Can't fight off the ropes, even though he was trying to all night.
      Doesn't know how to clinch

This guy was severely overmatched, someone ****ed up making this fight.

Cautious return or just keep doing what he was doing fighting nobodies till his last fight even then the guy Han was unknown was just the local favorite.

          Froch fight was totally different.

Tapia was taking sustained punishment round after round, not just unsteady for about 25 seconds.

I've watched Tapia in person and on TV, and I could tell that his problem wasn't in his skills, his problem will always be his stamina.

If he was a better conditioned fighter, he could've beat Kirkland, dude has entirely too much mass.

Like you said, if he would've paced himself, he probably would've had a better fight.

Ref breaks them up. Glen obeys and puts his hands down in relax mode. Kirkland sees that and takes advantage of one more cheap shot, Bam!!! Ref turns the other cheek.

i echo others posters sentiments. i remember thinking during the fight did tapia's corner do their homework?

tapia's training should have been focused on using angles and feet and his corner should have reiterated in between rounds that standing on the ropes getting pummeled by a hard-hitting dude hoping he gets tired??? i mean WTF.

Smoger needs to stop hugging the guy getting punched when he stops the fight and start pulling off the guy doing the punching...fighters keep punching in the moment and that one last shot Tapia took was brutal and could have been dangerous and the only reason it happened was because Smoger didn't try to hold Kirkland back but grabbed Tapia to stop the fight making him feel like its done and he can put his guard down...he's a great ref but this is something he does way too often

And Tapia is a street fighter, he can **** but he's got no gas...he was tired and lazy...he just laid on the ropes, ate punches and completely gassed out. That's not going to get fixed

but it seemed that the doctor wanted to stop it...and i think the doc had mago in the back of his mind even though this was a diff state commission that was involved.
