Comments Thread For: Arum Not Sure Pacquiao's Rank Will Secure Mayweather

Top Rank promoter Bob Arum doesn’t know whether the latest ratings of the World Boxing Council which elevated “Fighter of the Decade” Manny Pacquiao to No.1 contender status in the welterweight division “means anything” in terms of a possible fight against champion Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Arum told BoxingScene.com/Manila Standard - “I don’t know whether that means anything. I have no idea whether we can move forward with Mayweather” pointing out that Mayweather is also the WBA super welterweight champion.” [Click Here To Read More]

Pac should take a flat fee. No split.

In what world does a man who's 1-2 in his last 3 fights, Coming off a major KO, with a win over a fighter whos never campaigned at 147, deserve a 50/50 or even a 70/30 split. Pac just did 400k with Rios. Floyd did 850 with Ghost who absolutely no one outside of hardcore boxing circles knows. and 2.2. with Canelo.

Pac deserves a 20-30 million dollar flat free. If not that, then he should walk and keep selling flop PPV's.

        Good Guy WBC.

What is this, Arum buying the rank or WBC trying to make bank under the guise of giving fans what they want?

I would say 75/25 in favor for floyd because after the devastating KO pac suffered to JMM he is basically on the button again, him beating a punching bag like rios means nothing

Look arum is already making excuses he would never let his top rank ****** fight fighters from other promotions, with arum it's only top rank vs top rank

I think by WBC rules, the max Floyd can get is 70/30 unless there is a purse bid in which case Manny will be offered a specific amount again (which undoubtedly will be less than 40mil this time). Either way, I'm not sure how a win over Rios vaults you to the #1 spot in the ranking but i'm glad he's there. I already don't like what Arum is doing.

BTW, I guess Manny would have to be #1 if Abregu is #2....
