    Briggs responds to Peters call

Heavyweight contender Shannon “Brooklyn” Briggs and his manager, Scott Hirsch, have responded to Samuel Peter and his team regarding a proposed showdown between the two in April. “About six weeks ago, Dino Duva called me directly on my cell phone and offered me $600,000 to fight Sam Peter,” explains Briggs. “I accepted and no fight materialized. I’m happy to fight Sam Peter, today, tomorrow, April, May or any other day of the year for the $600,000 I was offered. I’m not asking for millions; I only want Dino to be a man of his word.” Hirsch says that Briggs is eager for this matchup and that they aren’t “pricing themselves out of the fight,” as Duva claimed. They just want the same purse that was offered less than two months ago for the same fight. “It’s highly inappropriate for a promoter to call a fighter directly without going through the manager, but Dino’s such a good guy and the offer seemed very fair, so I overlooked it. But to turn around and renege on the deal and try to fool the public is dead wrong. We’ll take the $600,000 we were offered to fight Peter today or any other day, but read my lips; Shannon Briggs is not on sale for 25% off. We’re negotiating several other fights, but we can get this done for Dino’s original offer. Not a penny more, not a penny less.”
Sounds to me like this fight is a done deal...

....This is appropriate and very good timing. We are talking about this fight nicely taking the place of the Tua/Briggs affair. Briggs/Peter is a much more interesting fight IMO. **** Tua!!

I just hope it happens, hearing Peter's people talking about Briggs like he would 'price himself out' is more or less saying that they are offering him less this time around. I think that Briggs could probably beat Peter. All Peter has is a punch and if you can't beat one of the K's with a punch, you can't box. Peter's people are bluffing trying to get press and make it seem like guys are scared of haymakers or something. Anybody who can actually handle themselves in a ring would prefer if all you knew how to do was chase them with wide punches even if you can punch.

i dont see why anybody thinks briggs can beat anybody. he lost to jameel mccline who sucks. got a draw against botha who sucks. he lost to the old foreman even though they gave it to him to make foreman retire. tua would knock briggs out within 6 i think. peter too.

              Peter K.O. 1 or 2.

Briggs really is just a target.

I say the first punch that lands flush...finishes him.

              Yeah I like Shannon.

I agree with this post though. He is nothing special.

              as a person......he's a great guy. As a fighter....he is lame.

I'm no fan of Briggs, but I believe that anyone who can jump rope and work the mits a bit could school Peter. He's an over-hyped bum.

I don't have many points, as you can see, that's all there is, I would bet them. Seeing your avatar, I'd take you up on Calzaghe as well. Looks like you are keen on haymakers to me .
